A delegation consisting of six Danish VET schools (Green Academy was one of them), representatives from the Danish Ministry for Higher Education and Science, and one partner school from Hungary KMASZC recently completed a two-week study visit to the United States. In total, 14 participants took part in the program, which combined institutional visits, networking with industry partners, and participation in CCID’s 50th Annual Conference in Tucson, Arizona.
The program began in San Diego with a visit to the San Diego Botanic Garden. The visit continued with a study tour at Southwestern College, providing valuable insight into their educational programs and facilities.
Travelling onward to Arizona, the delegation made a stop at Joshua Tree National Park before continuing their program in the Phoenix area. Here, they met with Royal Danish Consul John Larsen and visited several institutions and partners including SUND Company, Gateway Community College, Mesa Community College, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, and the Desert Botanical Garden.
A key highlight of the visit was participation in CCID’s 50th Annual Conference in Tucson, where the delegation from Green Academy contributed to a workshop presenting ongoing collaboration with Davidson-Davie Community College and other community college partners.
Following the conference, the delegation focused on strengthening future collaboration and identifying opportunities for student exchanges and internships. Meetings were held with several parks and organizations including Yosemite National Park, Springs Preserve, Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, Gardens of Alcatraz, and landscaping companies interested in hosting international students.
The study visit provided valuable inspiration and strengthened international partnerships that will benefit both students and institutions in the future.
