Luua Forestry School in Estonia has initiated the first European Forest Machine Competition and Seminar, which will take place 24–26 March 2026 and bring together forestry students and teachers from vocational schools across Northern and Baltic Europe.
The event introduces a new international skills competition focused on operating forest forwarders, where both students and teachers will demonstrate their practical forestry machine skills in real forest conditions.
Participants come from seven vocational forestry schools:
• Luua Forestry School (Estonia)
• Naturbruksskolan Svenljunga (Sweden)
• Kongsberg Videregående Skole (Norway)
• WinNova (Finland)

• Gradia (Finland)
• Tredu (Finland)
• Ogres Tehnikums (Latvia)
Alongside the competition, an international seminar will bring together teachers and students to discuss the future of forestry education and forest machinery, including the impact of climate change and the development of modern vocational training.
The seminar will also explore the future of the competition itself, including whether it could become a regular international event rotating between different European forestry schools.
