Professional competitions play a key role in vocational education and training: they bring learning to life, connect theory with real practice, and give students a clear sense of purpose in their chosen profession. In green VET especially, competitions are more than challenges — they are platforms where future professionals test their skills, exchange ideas, and engage with the latest innovations in agriculture and animal care.
This spring has been particularly dynamic at KMASZC Táncsics Agricultural School. A team of students travelled to Denmark to take part in EVECSA partners’ Climate Smart Agriculture competition, where they explored sustainable farming solutions and worked alongside international peers. At the SIA Paris Cattle Judging Competition, students had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in evaluating cattle, applying both theoretical knowledge and practical observation. At the same time, another group is actively preparing for the AniCare competition in the Netherlands, focusing on professional animal care skills and deepening their practical knowledge.
Back home, the school has also taken on a leading role by organizing the AgroChallenge Hungary competition. This initiative is steadily gaining recognition among agricultural schools and professional communities, building a network that values excellence and collaboration. During this spring’s school rounds, a remarkably high number of students participated across the country, taking on a wide variety of challenging tasks. At KMASZC Táncsics School alone, 18 teams competed in the local round, demonstrating their commitment. The momentum continues as the school prepares to host the national finals in May, when six more agricultural schools from across the country will come together to compete and share knowledge.
At the same time, academic competitions have also brought success to the school this spring. Students have achieved outstanding results in theoretical and subject-based contests, demonstrating that strong practical skills go hand in hand with solid academic knowledge. These achievements highlight the depth of their understanding, their ability to think critically, and their commitment to excellence beyond hands-on tasks.
By showcasing so much talent, innovation, and professional commitment — both in practical and academic fields — these activities contribute to making green VET more visible and attractive, proving that agricultural education is a forward-looking pathway full of opportunities.
