In response to the growing threat of extreme wildfires driven by climate change, CPIFP Montearagón (Huesca) is coordinating INNOFIRE-VR, an innovative educational project that merges Virtual Reality (VR) and drone technology to revolutionize forestry brigade training.
Building upon previous immersive simulation tools, INNOFIRE-VR incorporates tactical drone operation. This enables students to practice early fire detection, terrain analysis, fuel identification, and initial response tactics in realistic virtual scenarios without exposure to physical hazards.
The initiative relies on a strong public-private partnership involving CPIFP Movera and CPIFP San Blas, custom software development by Ábaco Digital, and technical validation from the public company SARGA alongside the regional Department of Environment. This joint effort guarantees high-level qualifications tailored to the real demands of forestry management.
