The school strengthens its environmental commitment through a certified management system and circular-economy practices.
The school has successfully renewed its ISO 14001 certification following an external audit, reinforcing its environmental management practices, including water consumption and the handling of hazardous and organic waste.
One of its key initiatives is its composting facility, which processes organic waste from gardens and practical training areas through traditional composting and vermicomposting. The resulting compost and worm humus are used in crops and nurseries, reducing the need for chemical fertilisers and purchased growing media.
According to information provided by the school, this approach has increased soil organic matter from 0.4% to 2.5%, improved soil structure and water retention, and supported soil fertility and resource circularity. It also helps reduce peat use and lessen the environmental impact of training activities.
The initiative shows how agricultural and environmental VET can embed sustainability in hands-on learning and prepare students to address environmental challenges.
