How does soil form, and what does it actually mean for plant growth and agricultural yields?
In week 10 2026, students from the Basic Course 2 EUX programme at Gråsten Agricultural College are working on the project “Soil Under the nails”, where they combine theory with practical investigations in both the field and the laboratory. The students analyze soil texture, examine soil profiles, and work with soil structure, nutrients, and microorganisms 🦠.
Through exercises such as sieve analyses, spade tests, and soil measurements, the students gain hands-on insight into how soil properties influence crop production and agricultural opportunities 🌱.
In short, the students truly get soil under their fingernails – and a valuable understanding of the very foundation on which agriculture is built 🚜.
