Another story about an internship in USA
My name is Marie-Louise and I am a student at the Green Academy doing an internship in the United States of America. I work at Lef Farm which grows baby greens hydroponically for sale in bigger supermarkets in New Hampshire. It has been almost 3 months since arrival – and there is still a lot to learn about how to grow plants almost without soil in a highly controlled environment with LED lights beside the natural sunlight, without using pesticides only adding fertiliser by a nutrient solution and the heavy emphasis on every part of the production being carried out almost automatically without human interaction.
The reason why I wanted to go abroad was to be able to see new technology used in horticulture and get an experience of a lifetime. I would recommend every young student in the green field to go meet new challenges because it is a unique opportunity Next month I am going to a big conference/exhibition in Columbus, Ohio for the industry which potentially could lead to a job since there will be companies from many countries.
