At Räpina School of Horticulture (EE), students study the cultivation of herbs on the shelves of Click & Grow in an open classroom.
The idea of an open classroom was developed by gardening teachers Anu Käär and Katrin Uurman. The sitting boxes in the classroom were built by landscaping students under the guidance of teacher Priit Trahv. The first-year gardening students designed floor shelves with different herbs, the cultivation of which will be studied together.
Therefore, as the plants grow in a classroom that is open to everyone, students develop different leaflets about the plants and the growing method. Later, posters introducing the collected data and the results of the experiment will be created, which will decorate the walls of the classroom until a new experiment will start.
This is how the Digitalis project works – modern horticultural production technologies and digital tools are integrated into the teaching.
