26-29 October 2017, Sopron (HU)

The group of experts responsible for the Preparatory Meeting of the upcoming 17th European Championships in Forestry Skills spent the past two days in and around the beautiful town of Sopron in Western-Hungary.

Rain could not stop the busy programme and the enthusiasm of the organisers and the participants. Even the outdoor activities went as scheduled and the event was a definite success. During the work meeting in the conference rooms of the Kőhalmy Hunting Museum the 24 participants (coming from 14 European countries) agreed on all the rules and regulations of the competition.

Also, a technical demonstration took place out on the practice fields of the Secondary Forestry School Gyula Roth, the host of the big event in May 2018. As part of the programme colleagues had the chance to get to know the lovely surrounding of Sopron, take a walk on the forestry course called Cyclamen Trail, enjoy birdwatching and visit the Fertődrákos quarry as well as the wonderful sights of Fertőd and the Fertőd-Hanság National Park.

The Preparatory Meeting and the competition likewise are supported by institutions such as Tanulmányi Erdőgazdaság Zrt, National Park Fertő-Hanság, ProKultúra Sopron Nonprofit Kft; furthermore, by Mr. János Kántor, a local businessman, and of course by EUROPEA.

Chief organisers, Mr. László Hoczek, the principal of the Secondary Forestry School Gyula Roth, and dr. Takács Viktor, responsible for the competition, are looking forward to welcoming you in spring 2018.

Good luck to all the teams and see you in May!
