In this week the bright new “Taste of Life” project commenced with a well organized kick-off meeting in Berlin, Germany. Guided by the Dutch project managers – from EUROPEA member school Nordwin College in Friesland – the partners from Germany, Romania, Czech Republic and the Netherlands began the important work.

“Taste of Life” focus on the need for improving the quality of food in our schools and among the youth. We are facing a situation, where more and more people suffers from overweight or obesity. In the global context, the WHO expects about 360 million individuals to be diagnosed with diabetes within the next few years.

How can we change these developments? How do we make sustainable, regional and healthy food a widely accepted alternative to fastfood and poor quality meals? How do we involve students, parents, local producers, canteen staff, teachers, school managers and other stakeholders in a proces, that could set new standards for school meals?

That is what “Taste of Life” is all about! The project is funded as an ERASMUS partnership, and EUROPEA is a partner in the project with responsibility for dissemination of activities and results. EUROPEA’s tasks in the project is taken care off by two of our member schools: Nordwin College in the Netherlands and The Vocational College of Ostrobothnia in Vaasa, Finland.
