European knowledge in Danish green vocational education (EUKID)

A grant from ERASMUS+ (2019-21) allows EUROPEA Denmark to support 40 teachers and other staff members to travel and acquire new European knowhow. The core activity is job-shadowing visits lasting two or three days + travel. Participants travel in groups of two or three persons. Only two can be from the same school so the project also stimulates cooperation between member schools of EUROPEA Denmark. Each travel group must define a question in focus related to one of five overall themes and report their findings.

A project like this is a win-win-win! Each participant is gaining international knowhow and inspiration. General awareness about benefits from international inspiration is being boosted when colleagues return to schools and tell about their experiences. And finally, it proves the mission of EUROPEA Denmark: To facilitate capacity building and cooperation for the benefit of internationalization of green vocational education in Denmark.

EUROPEA Denmark lead two similar projects in 2015 to 2019. Over that period 68 persons from our member schools have visited institutions and companies in various European countries. They have brought home lots of new knowledge and inspiration for green vocational education in Denmark. This was clearly evidenced every year when some travel groups reported their findings as part of a workshop at the annual meeting for agricultural schools in August – our workshop became the most popular in 2018! We have also seen it via the short-written reports collected in two “inspiration booklets” and published in 2017 and 2019.

These projects have made EUROPEA Denmark very visible to our members. Good results – and money – talks!  Our local member schools – and their leaders – see that EUROPEA is an organization which brings benefits to its members!

We hope you will welcome our colleagues if they contact you and ask for help in relation to a visit. You are most welcome to contact us if you have questions about this activity of EUROPEA Denmark. Please feel free to contact Anders H. Nielsen (ahn@bygholm.dk).
