During January and February, the Secondary School of Agriculture in Benešov opened its doors to primary school pupils, offering them a unique opportunity to explore potential future careers in horticulture, veterinary medicine, and agriculture. The program was designed to give these young students a hands-on experience and a glimpse into the life of a farmer, gardener, or veterinarian.
The future gardeners were thrilled to create their own flower arrangements, which they proudly took home. But the excitement didn’t stop there. They also had the chance to design their dream gardens using special software, allowing their creativity to bloom.
Meanwhile, the aspiring farmers tested their skills in handling straw bales, turning the task into a fun and competitive event that could only be described as the “Straw Bale Olympics.” They also expanded their knowledge by identifying different plants, learning to distinguish between various crops and weeds.
For those interested in veterinary medicine, the program offered an opportunity to interact with and care for several animal friends. The future vets practiced treating animals, gaining valuable experience that could inspire them to pursue a career in veterinary science.
Overall, the program was a resounding success, providing primary school pupils with a memorable and educational experience. It not only helped them understand the various aspects of agricultural professions but also ignited a passion for these fields. Who knows? Perhaps some of these young students will become the next generation of skilled horticulturists, veterinarians, and farmers, contributing to the future of agriculture in the Czech Republic.
