Greener and healthier cities – this is the aim of the European Platform for Urban Greening project
VOŠ and SZEŠ Benešov and ITTEC s.r.o. participate in an international project together with partners from six European countries.
The 4-year long project aims to increase the knowledge and skills required to address climate adaptation, biodiversity and well-being in the urban, green living environment, and to broaden the expertise among professionals in Europe.
The project involves partners from the world of work and educational institutions from EU countries – the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Romania, Spain and the Czech Republic. Within the project six European centres of vocational excellence for urban greening will be created, all connected through one platform for the education of VET teachers, practitioners and students.
Each centre will be s a learning community, both online and offline, for gardeners, landscapers and urban greeners. It’s a place where supply and demand for work, internships, full-time training and short-term courses come together, and support a ‘skills ecosystem’ for the green sector.
The establishment of such centre and the new field of study focused on vertical and horizontal horticulture in urban and industrial areas, are a first for the Czech Republic.
The project partners specifically address the development of innovative curricula and teaching methodologies in the field of urban green landscaping, in order to rise the quality and adaptability of education and training. The centres for vocational excellence on urban greening also aim to contribute to the relevance and image of VET programs, and attract a growing workforce for the sector.
