The Minister of Agriculture in Canary Island has chosen the Agricultural Training School of Tacoronte, Tenerife for the inauguration of the new academic year. The Minister could taste cheeses and wines made by the students themselves and visit the facilities of the school, with special attention to the winery, dairy and composting and worm stations. During this ceremony, the Minister stressed the important role that these training schools play in the education of youngsters, especially in the present moment when competitiveness in the labour market is high. The training that young people receive in these schools allows them to initiate professionally in the primary sector. Quintero believes that “The primary sector could find an outlet to the unacceptable unemployment rates that Canary Islands have and, in this sense, the preparation that provide these agricultural training schools are a cornerstone for it”
