Successful  smart & eco agri-focused months in  Secondary School of Veterinary Studies in Nitra. Last few months have been very productive for Secondary School of Veterinary Studies in Nitra, Slovakia.

In April, some of our students participated in the competition NajAgro Dievča/ NajAgro Chlapec (The TopAgri Girl/ Boy). This competition, which has been organized since 2011 , has quickly gained its popularity across the whole country, because the contestants are required not only to look good, but they must also prove exceptional skills and knowledge in agriculture.

This year, our student Karolína Pandulová won the first place and became the TopAgri Girl of Slovakia! We are very proud of her!

Soon after that, Secondary School of Veterinary Studies organized the 20th year of the annual competition Mladý Ekofarmár (The Young EcoFarmer). However, this year of the competition was exceptional. For the first time, we were more than happy to welcome participants from the Czech Republic and Serbia – our new friends who we have met thanks to Europea events !

31 participants from 3 countries worked hard for three days to prove their knowledge in theoretical test, laboratory work and milking of cows. It was a great time to find new friendships and enjoy some quality time together exchanging professional knowledge and skills. The competition was broadcast on the Slovak television in the TV programme Farmárska Revue (Farming Revue).

Finally, the biggest international exhibition for agriculture and food industry in Nitra, Slovakia – Agrokomplex – was an opportunity for our students to be present at the Championship of Holstein-Friesian cattle and to observe and practice their judging skills with cattle.  During two days a dozen of students accompanied by their teachers were being helpful with all that was necessary for  the  championship- from preparing the venue and grooming the cattle, to helping the breeders and filling in the score charts- they surely learned a lot and gained plenty of priceless skills for their future jobs and career.
