The Interjurassian Rural Foundation awarded diplomas to 54 new graduates: five hospitality and catering staff, eight catering managers, seven agricultural practitioners and 34 farmers. Several speakers took the floor. Christian Tschanz, Chair of the FRI Foundation Board, said: “You are a pillar of our society and of national defence. Food sovereignty and the work done behind the scenes are often overlooked but come to be valued in times of crisis. […] Never let anyone make you believe that your profession is worth less than any other.” Stéphane Theurillat, Minister for the Canton of Jura, is convinced: “Today we are celebrating two sectors that are essential to our society: agriculture and the hospitality and catering sector. Two different worlds, yet deeply linked by a shared mission: to care for others and meet the fundamental needs of our daily lives.” His Bernese counterpart, Raphaël Lanz, quoted the Chinese philosopher Confucius: “Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life!” “…when we find meaning in what we do, it becomes more than just a duty. Work then enables us to make a difference: for other people, for society, and for nature.”
