The competition is over, but what a journey it has been!
For one intense week, Shanghai was at the centre of the VET world, as the biggest WorldSkills competition ever brought together talented young professionals from around the globe.
After years of hard work, training and preparation, our Hungarian competitors took on the world’s best in their respective skills.
With the support of their schools and the Agricultural Vocational Centre of the Central Hungarian Region, they represented Hungary on the world stage.
In Baking, Mátyás had to demonstrate a remarkable range of skills, preparing everything from croissants and cruffins to sourdough bread, baguettes, ciabatta, wholemeal and spelt loaves, braided breads, filled pastries and a decorative showpiece.
In Floristry, Dávid completed eight tasks over four competition days. Three were known in advance, while five were surprise tasks revealed only 10 minutes before the start of the module. One of the challenges was a standing space decoration inspired by an oriental folding screen, while his final task was a hand-tied bouquet representing happiness and sunshine.
In Landscape Gardening, Ádám and Balázs faced a demanding combination of skills: landscaping, planting, natural stone walls and paving, steps and borders, a pond, stepping-stone paths, a wooden window and bridge, as well as a Chinese moon-gate-inspired feature.
This was not simply a test of technical skills. It was a test of precision, creativity, teamwork, endurance and problem-solving.
We are incredibly proud that our schools could play a part in this journey, providing the expertise, training and support behind the preparation, with the wholehearted backing of our school communities.
